The World Health Organization has positioned Indonesia as the third country with the highest prevalence of stunting in Southeast Asia. In Southeast Sulawesi, stunting ranks fifth out of the ten provinces with the highest prevalence. The prevalence data of stunting in Southeast Sulawesi for children under five years old in 2022 was 27.7%. The number of stunted toddlers in Kendari City increased to 365 individuals in 2022, with the Puuwatu district showing the highest prevalence. Infant development is hindered due to insufficient nutritional intake, particularly exclusive breastfeeding. Failure in exclusive breastfeeding leads to long-term consequences. Objective: To assess the impact of the Failure of Exclusive Breastfeeding on the Incidence of Stunting Among Toddlers in the catchment area of Puuwatu Community Health Center. Methods: A cross-sectional research design was employed using a non-probability sampling method involving 84 respondents. Data collection was conducted using the Breastfeeding Self-efficacy Scale-Short Form (BSES-SF). Result: The research findings failure of exclusive breastfeeding variable is 0.044 < 0.05 for the mindset in breastfeeding indicator, 0.030 < 0.05 for the emotional reaction in breastfeeding indicator, and 0.005 < 0.05 for the breastfeeding behavior indicator, indicating a significant association between the Failure of Exclusive Breastfeeding and the Incidence of Stunting Among Toddlers in the catchment area of Puuwatu Community Health Center. Conclusion: Based on this research, the crucial role of Exclusive Breastfeeding in the growth and development of toddlers is emphasized, underscoring its significance as an integral element in the nursing care process administered by healthcare professionals.

Keywords: Stunting, Exclusive Breastfeeding, Toddlers, Nursing, Southeast Sulawesi
2024-07-26T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Islamic Nursing https://journal3.uin-alauddin.ac.id/index.php/join/article/view/47442 NURSING CARE FOR CHILDREN WITH BRONCHOPNEUMONIA DIAGNOSION IN FLAMBOYANT TREATMENT ROOM 2024-08-01T08:33:47+00:00 Nurmasita Nurmasita [email protected] Sakriawati Sakriawati [email protected] Sri Wahyuningsih [email protected] Durratul Fakhriyah [email protected] Anriani Anriani [email protected]
Bronchopneumonia is an inflammation of the respiratory tract that occurs from the bronchi to the alveoli. Bronchopneumonia is more common in young children and infants and is usually caused by the bacteria Streptococcus pneumonia and Hemofilus influenza. The aim of this study is to determine the nursing care and appropriate intervention for patients with a diagnosis of bronchopneumonia. The design of this research is a case study with a nursing process approach. The sample in this study was a child with the initials "A.". The research was carried out at the Flamboyan Kleas 3A RSUD Batara Siang nursing room in Pangkep district in 2023. Data collection is done through interviews, observations, and documentation studies. The research instrument uses the form of childcare foster care. The approach to the nursing process carried out by the researchers includes phases: the investigation of the researcher in collecting data, both from the patient and the patient's family and from the health care provider; performing nurses' diagnoses; nursed interventions; and implementation and evaluation of the nursery. The results of the evaluation in patients with Bronchopneumonia with a nursing diagnosis were: ineffective breathing patterns associated with depression of the respiratory center and inefficient breathing pathway cleanliness related to obstruction of the airway that occurred over three days as a whole. The conclusions obtained indicate the evolution of the patient's condition before and after the implementation. During the treatment, the family is expected to help in the healing process of the client by participating in the implementation of a nursing orphanage.
2024-07-26T17:07:36+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Islamic Nursing https://journal3.uin-alauddin.ac.id/index.php/join/article/view/46584 EFFECT OF CUPPING THERAPY FOR LOW BACK PAIN (LBP) IN LECTURER OF MANDALA WALUYA UNIVERSITY 2024-08-01T08:35:26+00:00 Lisnawati Lisnawati [email protected] Nofitasari Nofitasari [email protected] Ari Ari [email protected] Islaeli Islaeli [email protected] Cici Yusnayanti [email protected] Sitti Masriwati [email protected]
Cupping therapy is a complementary treatment option that can be administered to individuals suffering from Low Back Pain (LBP), a condition that continues to see a rise in its prevalence year after year. LBP is frequently experienced by office professionals who spend extended periods working in a seated position, which can lead to reduced productivity and a decline in overall health. The objective of this research was to assess the impact of cupping therapy on LBP among lecturers at Mandala Waluya University. This research entails a quantitative approach, employing a quasi-experimental one-group pre and post-test design. The research population comprises all lecturers at Mandala Waluya University, totaling 166 individuals, with a sample size of 30 respondents selected through purposive sampling techniques, as determined by the Lameshow formula. The study's findings indicate that 80.8% of the total sample of Mandala Waluya University lecturers between the ages of 30-40 years suffer from LBP. Through paired t-test analysis, it was established that the phi value was 0.000, which is smaller than the alpha value. Consequently, cupping therapy has the capacity to alleviate pain in LBP patients by promoting muscle relaxation and stimulating the release of beta hormones, which, in turn, reduces pain. Cupping therapy demonstrates its effectiveness in alleviating LBP and enhancing the daily functioning of lecturers at Mandala Waluya University.
2024-07-30T17:30:07+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Islamic Nursing https://journal3.uin-alauddin.ac.id/index.php/join/article/view/46708 CORRELATION OF HEALTH LITERACY AND SELF-MANAGEMENT BEHAVIOR AMONG HYPERTENSION CLIENTS 2024-08-02T11:33:51+00:00 Andi Mutiara Muthahharah [email protected] Rasdiyanah Rasdiyanah [email protected] Aidah Fitriani [email protected] Eny Sutria [email protected] Titi Mildawati [email protected]
Hypertension is the main cause of premature death worldwide. Hypertension has become a global, regional, national, and local public health problem. The World Health Organization (2023) estimates that 1.28 billion adults aged 30-79 years worldwide suffer from hypertension. The prevalence of hypertension will continue to increase sharply. In 2025, it is predicted that around 29% of adults worldwide will suffer from hypertension. Hypertension has caused the deaths of around 8 million people each year. 1.5 million deaths occur in Southeast Asia, where one-third of the population suffers from hypertension (WHO, 2011). Hypertension requires proper self-management and health literacy in handling it. .Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between health literacy and hypertension management behavior in the hypertension group in the Pacellekang Health Center work area, Gowa Regency. Methods: This research was conducted in the working area of Pacellekang Health Center, Pattallassang District, Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi Province on June 21 – July 21, 2023. Effective nursing interventions are crucial for managing the symptoms and improving patient outcomes. This case study examines the impact of positioning a patient with ineffective cerebral perfusion in a 30° semi-Fowler position. The research adopts a case study design using a nursing process approach, which involves monitoring vital signs, respiratory status, neck stiffness, and administering pharmacological treatments in collaboration with healthcare providers. Significant improvements were observed following the intervention. By the fifth day, the patient's consciousness had improved to a Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score of 15, indicating a state of compos mentis, with no confusion, headaches, or fever. These findings suggest that the 30° semi-Fowler position can effectively alleviate symptoms and improve cerebral perfusion in patients with meningitis. The analysis indicated a partial resolution of nursing problems, with plans to maintain the patient’s hemodynamic status and continue appropriate drug therapy for optimal recovery. The study highlights the importance of proper patient positioning and collaborative care in managing meningitis and improving patient outcomes

Keywords: Meningitis, Nursing Care, Semi Fowler Position, Consciousness Status

2024-08-01T06:58:31+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Islamic Nursing
