In Indonesia, sexual violence against adolescents is the highest case among other cases of violence. Lack of knowledge about sexual violence is one of the causes of high cases of sexual violence in adolescents in Indonesia. Therefore, debriefing on sexual violence needs to be done to minimize sexual violence in adolescents. By implementing sharing-knowledge of sexual violence in adolescents, this community service activity aims to share knowledge and minimize sexual violence in adolescents, especially in the Tinambung neighborhood, Majene District, West Sulawesi. The target of this activity is young people in the Tinambung neighborhood who are involved in Mandar Peduli. The method of lecturing and watching movies is the right choice in implementing community service activities. The results of this service activity are expected to increase understanding and awareness of the general public, especially members of the Mandar Peduli community of sexual violence. In addition, there is an agreement in the minutes of the event which is a concrete step that can be taken through Mandar Peduli in the prevention and handling of sexual violence in adolescents, which can mainly be found in various environments in the community through the guidance of the West Sulawesi University sexual violence prevention and handling unit, this is in accordance with the hope that it can make a positive contribution in preventing and controlling sexual violence in the Tinambung Region, West Sulawesi
2024-10-26T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Muhammad Irwan, Sari Rahayu Rahman, Risnah https://journal3.uin-alauddin.ac.id/index.php/sjphs/article/view/52260 Assistance to improve occupational safety and health behavior in traditional diver fishing communities 2024-11-08T07:49:10+00:00 Hasbi Ibrahim [email protected] Abdul Majid HR. This community service initiative aimed to improve occupational safety and health (OSH) behaviors among traditional fishermen on Kambuno Island, Pulau Sembilan District, Indonesia. Using a one-group pre- and post-test design, the intervention targeted a sample of 60 out of 862 local fishermen. The program involved counseling sessions and the distribution of OSH guidelines specifically tailored for fishing activities, delivered over a two-month period. The intervention assessed various components related to OSH, including the use and completeness of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), knowledge and practice levels, personal health habits, treatment-seeking behavior, and environmental health awareness. Results showed significant improvements in PPE usage, knowledge levels, and OSH practices. For instance, post-intervention data indicated a substantial increase in the use of head, hand, and foot protection, as well as life vests. Furthermore, positive behavioral changes were observed in boat cleaning, self-care, and formal healthcare-seeking behaviors, as fishermen increasingly opted for health centers over traditional treatments. The findings suggest that focused OSH interventions can effectively enhance safety and health behaviors in high-risk fishing communities. This program underscores the importance of continued education and monitoring to sustain these improvements and reduce occupational risks in traditional fishing communities.
2024-11-08T07:49:09+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Hasbi Ibrahim, Abdul Majid HR. Based on Riskesdas 2020, the prevalence of stunting in Indonesia reached 27.67%, while the national target is 14% by 2024. To support these efforts, Tri Tunas Nasional Institute of Technology and Health in collaboration with Rumah Zakat organized a community service program entitled "Healthy Mothers, Stunting-Free Children Agent". This activity was aimed at pregnant and breastfeeding mothers in Rapokalling District, Makassar, with the aim of increasing their knowledge and awareness about stunting and how to prevent it. This program uses participatory education methods, interactive discussions, and food distribution as practical support. Evaluation was conducted through pre-test and post-test to measure knowledge improvement. Results showed a significant increase in participants' understanding of stunting and balanced nutrition, as well as behavioral changes towards a healthy diet. These findings demonstrate the importance of community-based interventions integrated with logistical support for successful stunting prevention.
2025-02-19T05:32:12+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Ma'rifat Istiqa Mukty, Nina Isywara Kusuma, Asmiana Saputri Ilyas, Nunik Sulistyaningtyas, Anna Daud, Erlina HB, Karlyna Muhammad https://journal3.uin-alauddin.ac.id/index.php/sjphs/article/view/53334 Improving cadre competence through anthropometry training in Mawang Village, Gowa Regency, Indonesia 2025-02-19T11:34:33+00:00 Sitti Raodhah [email protected] Muhammad Fais Satrianegara [email protected] Muhammad Rusmin [email protected] Yudi Adnan [email protected] Surahmawati Surahmawati [email protected] Zilfadhilah Arranury [email protected] Nur Rahma [email protected]
A common issue in public health services is the limited knowledge and skills of posyandu cadres in conducting accurate anthropometric measurements, which affects the assessment of children's nutritional status. This community service program through training aims to improve the competencies of posyandu cadres in anthropometric measurements in Mawang Village, Somba Opu District, Gowa Regency. Anthropometric measurements are essential for assessing children's nutritional status and overall community health. The participatory training method involved cadres actively in every stage, from planning to evaluation. The training was conducted on September 14, 21, and 28, 2024, at Nurul Huda Mosque, with the participation of 35 posyandu cadres. The training materials included anthropometric measurement theory, correct techniques, and practical demonstrations. The evaluation results showed a significant increase in cadres' knowledge, with an average pre-test score of 13.37 and an average post-test score of 14.60 (p-value 0.000). This increase demonstrates the effectiveness of the training in enhancing cadres' understanding of anthropometric measurements, which is expected to contribute to improving the quality of health services at posyandu. This study emphasizes the importance of continuous training for posyandu cadres to support public health improvement efforts.
2025-02-19T11:34:32+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Sitti Raodhah, Muhammad Fais Satrianegara, Muhammad Rusmin, Yudi Adnan, Surahmawati Surahmawati, Zilfadhilah Arranury, Nur Rahma https://journal3.uin-alauddin.ac.id/index.php/sjphs/article/view/52685 Family empowerment strategy and stunting prevention through moringa tree planting movement 2025-02-20T13:17:33+00:00 Nur Rahmah [email protected] Syamsul Alam [email protected] Zilfadhilah Arranury [email protected] Muhammad Kahfi [email protected] Aswadi Aswadi [email protected] Syarfaini Syarfaini [email protected]
Stunting is a significant global health problem, with an estimated 149 million children under five experiencing this condition in 2018. Moringa is a nutrient-rich plant recommended by WHO as an alternative food to overcome nutritional problems or malnutrition. This service aims to increase knowledge about the use of moringa to prevent stunting, encourage active community participation in planting moringa trees in every home, and hone family skills in innovation in processing moringa-based food. The service method uses a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach. This program is conducted through education, training, and mentoring using lecture, discussion, and direct practice methods. The results of the service showed a positive response from the community, as seen from their activeness during education and socialization of Moringa-based food innovations. This education succeeded in increasing public understanding about using Moringa leaves to prevent stunting, with pre-test and post-test data showing an increase in knowledge from 44.60 to 93.00. This program also distributed 500 Moringa tree seeds and trained people to make processed Moringa products into innovative foods, such as pudding and brownies, opening up economic opportunities. However, its use as an alternative traditional treatment remains suboptimal, especially among the younger generation. TOGA not only serves as cooking ingredients but also offers natural and independent health benefits. Therefore, this empowerment activity aims to enhance students' knowledge and awareness of the benefits of TOGA through educational counseling and practical garden-making activities. The program was conducted on October 13-14, 2024, at SD Negeri 21 Rumbia, involving 52 students from grades 3, 4, and 6. The methods used included lectures, leaflet distribution, an interactive game called "Guess the Picture", Q&A sessions, and hands-on planting of six types of TOGA plants: ginger, lemongrass, galangal, turmeric, basil, and celery. The evaluation was carried out using pre-tests and post-tests with five questions designed to measure students' knowledge improvement. The results showed a significant increase (p < 0.05) in students' knowledge, with the percentage of those classified as having sufficient knowledge rising from 11.5% to 26.9%. In addition to enhancing knowledge, the hands-on TOGA planting activity provided students with practical experience that reinforced their understanding of the health benefits of medicinal plants. With active student involvement and support from the school, this program is expected to contribute to public health improvement through the sustainable use of TOGA.
2025-02-22T08:00:27+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Dian Rezki Wijaya, Andi Nur Shabaa Zhahiirah, Sri Ayu Lestari, Sitti Nurhasnina, Alwiyah Nur Syarif; Syamsudhuha Saleh https://journal3.uin-alauddin.ac.id/index.php/sjphs/article/view/53451 Education on Sugar-Sweetened Beverage (SSB) for increasing knowledge mothers in Pattallassang Village 2025-02-22T10:27:09+00:00 Tri Addya Karini [email protected] Yessy Kurniati [email protected] Dian Rezki Wijaya [email protected] Aswadi Aswadi [email protected] Nurhidayat Nurhidayat [email protected] Muhammad Hidir Asgari [email protected]
Excessive consumption of Sugar-Sweetened Beverage (SSB) can cause various health problems, such as weight gain, diabetes and disease. The approach used in this service is Participatory Action Research (PAR), which means looking at the level of participation of participants in outreach and demonstration activities. In this approach, the community service team carries out persuasive and non-commanding facilitation efforts which aim to increase community knowledge, attitudes and behavior in finding, planning and solving problems using the resources/potential they have including the participation and support of community leaders. This community service activity uses an outreach method with a lecture, question and answer and discussion approach. The activity participants were mothers in Pattallassang Village. Before and after education, participants were given a questionnaire to determine their level of knowledge about MBDK. The results of community service show that there is an increase in the knowledge of mothers in Pattallassang Village before and after education about MBDK, with p value = 0.008. Outreach activities about MBDK to mothers in Pattallassang Village have succeeded in increasing their knowledge significantly.
2025-02-22T10:27:08+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Tri Addya Karini, Yessy Kurniati, Dian Rezki Wijaya, Aswadi Aswadi, Nurhidayat Nurhidayat, Muhammad Hidir Asgari https://journal3.uin-alauddin.ac.id/index.php/sjphs/article/view/55304 Transforming knowledge about anemia through interactive education for adolescent girls in madrasah 2025-02-22T12:28:44+00:00 Irviani Anwar Ibrahim [email protected] Dwi Santy Damayati [email protected] Syarfaini Syarfaini [email protected] Sukfitrianty Syahrir [email protected] Andi Syamsiah Adha [email protected] Syamsul Alam [email protected]
Anemia is one of the common health problems worldwide, where there are around 1.62 billion people in the world suffering from anemia, or around 24.8% of the global population. This activity aims to provide education about anemia to adolescent girls at MTS Madani, Gowa Regency, through an interactive anemia literacy approach and health checks to detect anemia conditions early. This approach includes a series of structured stages, starting from pre-test, initial socialization, counseling, interactive discussion, health screening, to evaluation. The results obtained in the pre-test showed that 56.7% of respondents had sufficient knowledge about anemia, while in the post-test, this figure increased to 60.8%. Although there was a significant increase (P =0.000), a small percentage of respondents still had insufficient knowledge after attending the education, although the percentage was slightly lower in the post-test (39.2%) compared to the pre-test (43.3%). This suggests that the education provided can increase community literacy about anemia, but there is a need to continue to improve the quality and methods of counseling to achieve a more even level of understanding.
2025-02-22T12:28:43+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Irviani Anwar Ibrahim, Dwi Santy Damayati, Syarfaini Syarfaini, Sukfitrianty Syahrir, Andi Syamsiah Adha, Syamsul Alam
