Unfortunately, in many parts of the world, mangrove forests have been lost due to the pressures of urban development, the rapid expansion of aquaculture and agriculture, mining, overexploitation of timber, and increasing environmental risks. This activity aims to assess mangrove planting as a natural protection measure for the risk vulnerability of the coastal environment. The target of this service activity is the coastal area of Tongo Village. The results of service activities show that the mangroves planted on the coast of Tongo Village, namely Rhizophora Sp and Ceriops Sp grow well. It will take at least another five years to assess its effectiveness in mitigating coastal erosion. Planting mangroves in coastal areas is very important in an effort to protect the natural risk vulnerability of the coastal environment. This is important to do as soon as possible because the growth of mangrove plants requires a long time to get maximum benefits.
Gunawan Rasyidi, Apolinus Silalahi, Imam Rodhianto, Andi Ade Ulasaswini Copyright (c) 2024 Gunawan Rasyidi, Apolinus Silalahi, Imam Rodhianto, Andi Ade Ulasaswini https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://journal3.uin-alauddin.ac.id/index.php/sjphs/article/view/50487 Mon, 19 Aug 2024 21:44:16 +0000 Evaluation of Understanding of Clean Living Behavior in Diarrhea Prevention Efforts in Elementary School Students https://journal3.uin-alauddin.ac.id/index.php/sjphs/article/view/49731
Diarrhea remains a public health problem in Indonesia due to its high morbidity and mortality. The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that 100,000 Indonesian children die from diarrhea each year. Therefore, community service is very important to improve knowledge about hand washing behavior in school children. The purpose of this service is to evaluate knowledge about PHBS among elementary school students as an effort to prevent diarrhea. The targets were 33 students of Elementary Scholl (SD) of Inpres Kanreapia in Balanglohe Hamlet, Tombolopao District. This service method uses a combination of material delivery with PowerPoint, poster installation, and hand washing practice. Evaluation of counseling was carried out using post-test I and post-test II questionnaires to measure knowledge after 8 months of counseling, which was analyzed using the Friedman test. The results of statistical analysis showed a significant value of 0.050 (p>0.05), indicating that there was no statistically significant difference in knowledge regarding diarrhea prevention counseling with PHBS between the period before and after 8 months of counseling. Suggestions given during the implementation of the program have been implemented by SD Inpres Kanreapia, such as the provision of hand washing stations.
Yudi Adnan, Nur Faiqah Firda, Zaskia Maharani, Nur Annisa Khayani, Indah Putri Pratiwi Copyright (c) 2024 Yudi Adnan, Nur Faiqah Firda, Zaskia Maharani, Nur Annisa Khayani, Indah Putri Pratiwi https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://journal3.uin-alauddin.ac.id/index.php/sjphs/article/view/49731 Mon, 19 Aug 2024 21:44:40 +0000 Measuring the Effectiveness of Hypertension Education: Health Evaluation Study of A Village https://journal3.uin-alauddin.ac.id/index.php/sjphs/article/view/49429
Hypertension is the leading cause of premature death worldwide with 1.28 billion adults affected, mostly in low- and middle-income countries. This community service program aims to assess the effectiveness of an extension program related to risk factors, screening, and the impact of hypertension conducted in Bontolebang Hamlet, Kec. Tombolo Pao, Kab. Gowa. This activity involved 30 households with a post-test questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Fredman Test and showed a significant increase (p=0.000) in respondents' knowledge of hypertension. Wajo District, particularly Inalipue Village in Tanasitolo Sub-district, faces a major challenge in controlling the malaria vector, the Anopheles mosquito. The main objective of this survey was to identify and understand the environmental factors that contribute to Anopheles mosquito population density in Inalipue Village. Data were obtained by capturing adult mosquitoes using the Human Landing Collection (HLC) method as well as surveying Anopheles mosquito larval breeding sites. Mosquito trapping was conducted inside and outside the house and around livestock pens. Anopheles barbirostris was the most dominant species, found in all capture methods with the highest Man Biting Rate (MBR) of 1.00 for outdoor capture. Anopheles nigerrimus and Anopheles vagus were also found, although in smaller numbers. Of the 17 breeding habitat sites, 5 showed positive larval results. Water temperature, pH, and the presence of flora and fauna in these habitats varied, but most had ideal conditions for mosquito breeding. Anopheles barbirostris shows high adaptation to a wide range of habitats, making it the main vector. These findings provide a strong basis for local governments and health agencies to plan and implement more effective and integrated malaria control programs.
Naswir Naswir, Erlina Hamzah, Muhammad Syukur, Muhammad Saleh Copyright (c) 2024 Naswir Naswir, Erlina Hamzah, Muhammad Syukur, Muhammad Saleh https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://journal3.uin-alauddin.ac.id/index.php/sjphs/article/view/47678 Mon, 19 Aug 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Education on the Halal Certification Process of Food and Beverage Products at Village-Owned Enterprises https://journal3.uin-alauddin.ac.id/index.php/sjphs/article/view/49453
Halal certification is an important issue for business actors, because in the future every food and beverage product must have a halal certificate. The high number of cases shows that sexual education in preventing early marriage and improving adolescent reproductive health needs to be implemented. The training of volunteer sexuality cadres at SMPN 2 Tombolo Pao aims to increase students' knowledge and awareness of reproductive health and the dangers of early marriage. This program evaluation uses quantitative evaluation methods through pre and post-tests, observations, and interviews. The results of the analysis showed a significant increase in the knowledge of the cadres after the training. Interviews with the cadres indicated that this activity went well and that the cadres were able to educate their peers about the dangers of early marriage. However, the formation of an official cadre structure did not take place due to the constraints of preparing for exams and scout competitions. Observations showed that the physical intervention of installing posters at two strategic points was hampered by school renovations, so the posters were temporarily removed and will be reinstalled after the renovations are completed. The findings suggest that the sexuality volunteer cadre training is effective in increasing knowledge and information dissemination among students, although improvements are needed in the structural implementation and placement of educational materials in the school environment.
Berlian Berlian, Irma Susan Paramita, Sukfitrianty Syahrir, Tri Addya Karini Copyright (c) 2024 Berlian Berlian, Irma Susan Paramita, Sukfitrianty Syahrir https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://journal3.uin-alauddin.ac.id/index.php/sjphs/article/view/49742 Fri, 30 Aug 2024 00:00:00 +0000
