Author Guidelines

A. Type of Contribution
Al-Sihah: The Public Health Science Journal promotes the sound development of public health by the publication of original research papers.

B. Preparation and Submission of a Manuscript

B.1. General Rules

1. The manuscript should be original work, unfabricated, unfalsified, and unplagiarized, and it has not been previously published nor is being simultaneously submitted elsewhere.
2. The manuscript should be written by two or more authors. Manuscripts written by a single author will not be processed.
3. The manuscripts should be typed on one side of the paper and in 1-column format with 1.5 spacing throughout
4. The paper size is A4 and a 2.0 cm margin of the page is desirable. Use the font “Times New Roman” 12 pt.
5. The manuscript should not occupy more than 10 pages in length of the journal sheet (3000-5000 words of the manuscript).
6. All tables and figures should be typed on separate pages and numbered according to their sequence in the text.
7. Standard International (SI) units should be used. Weights and measures should be expressed in the metric system and temperatures in the Celsius scale.
8. Files should be saved in the format of the word processing software “word for windows” or “open text document”.
9. The manuscript should be submitted through the Online Submission System using Open Journal System (OJS).
10. The manuscript should be supplemented by an ethical clearance paper or information paper of having conducted research and an authorship statement
11. The manuscript does not contain any plagiarism elements. The editorial board will directly reject the text that indicates plagiarism.
12. The journal applies APA (7th Edition) Style in preparing references. Therefore, we highly recommend the authors use a reference management tool such as Mendeley or others.
13. Author(s) is required to complete profile metadata, especially on affiliation, email correspondence, and Orcid ID.
14. The manuscript that does not fulfil the requirements will not be processed any further.
15. Author(s) should download the journal template HERE as it can help to follow the journal layout.

B.2. Manuscripts Structure.
Manuscripts, in general, should be organized in the following order: Title, Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, Acknowledgements (optional), and References. These major headings should be typed in bold capital letters and set in the centre of the page. The manuscript should be written according to this template.

TITLE. The title of the paper consists of no more than 12 words, is written in Indonesian and in English. Abbreviations are not permitted in the title. The title is followed by the name of the authors and the complete institution address. The manuscript must be written by 2-6 authors, preferably from different institutions and countries. The author's name (without title) must be accompanied by the full name, full address of the affiliation (department, faculty,  university, city, and country), and the email of each author.
ABSTRACT. The abstract is written in Indonesian and in English with Times New Roman Font 12, space 1. The abstract consists of 150-200 words. The abstract should have the correct grammar and is highly recommended to be translated from reputable language institutions. Abstracts briefly describe the problem under study, the research purpose, the methods, and a summary of the results. The abstract must end with a comment about research contributions or conclusions. In the last part, the abstract is completed with a Graphical Abstract in the form of a picture or a graphic that describes the article's contents with a size of 900 pixels x 500 pixels and a resolution of 100 pixels.
INTRODUCTION. The introduction is written with Times New Roman Font 12, Space 1.5, contains 4-7 paragraphs, 800-1000 words, and it should provide the readers with the information necessary for understanding the research presented in the paper. Besides, there must be a background of problems and issues related to the research problem, data from national or world institutions related to research problems, the reviews of research that have been done previously by other researchers that are relevant to the research being carried out, statements about research gates, or gaps with previous research that lead to a statement of the novelty of the research, and the author' conveys the researcher's hypothesis and research objectives.
METHODS. The section of methods should include a discussion clearly and in detail which consists of the type of research and the approach used, place and time of research, consideration of subject selection and research situation, sources of literacy and information, population and sample, and sampling method, research procedures, including informed consent, an instrument used, data processing/analysis, and statement of having obtained a health code of ethics permit through the research ethics committee.
RESULTS. The study results contain 400-900 words describing the overall information obtained during the research process. Research results can be arranged based on the research variables/objectives and the information the researchers found during the research. The study results include an explanation of the contents of the table row or a picture of the study's results accompanied by the table number or picture as a description. The maximum number of tables and/or images is five pieces placed on the article's last page.
DISCUSSION.  Discussion of the results of research and testing obtained in the form of theoretical explanations, the discussion text contains 1000-1500 words. It should not display/repeat the research. Each research finding is compared or synthesized with the results of other research and is linked to the relevant theory. This sub-chapter describes the meaning of the findings obtained and the contribution to public health science
CONCLUSION.  Conclusions and suggestions consist of 1-2 paragraphs without bullets, containing 200-500 words. The conclusion must indicate the results that answer the researcher's question, the contribution of findings to public health, the strengths and limitations of this research, and the possibility of further development, suggestions or inputs are given to several parties aimed at the regional/central government or the institution where the research is conducted or recommendations for other researchers.
ACKNOWLEDGMENT.
Acknowledgements contain a maximum of 100 words, given to the research funder/head of the research institution or colleagues/participants who have contributed a lot to the research until the writing of this article. Acknowledgements are not addressed to any of the authors of the journal.
REFERENCES.  The references follow the APA7th style, which only includes all the libraries cited in the manuscript. The author is strongly advised to use a reference manager. The library is written in Times New Roman font 12, spaced 1, and sorted alphabetically by author. There are at least 30 references, 80 percent from reputable international journals (Springer/ Elsevier/ Wiley Online Library/ Taylor and Francis/ Pubmed), and nationally 20 percent of references can contain books/reports of institutions and nationally accredited journals. All references are up to 7 years from the date of submission of this article.

TABLES & FIGURES. On Tables, no vertical line is used and each term should begin with a capital letter. Any important explanation to the understanding of the tables should be given as a footnote at the bottom of the table. All tables should be explained in the text. Figures should be drawn on white paper and lines should be less than 1 mm wide. The left vertical and bottom horizontal lines are used. All the figures should be numbered in consecutive order. TEXT CITATION RULE. In the body of the paper, refer to the author as follows: Smith and Jones (2022). If the sentence structure requires the author’s name to be included in parentheses, then the proper format (Smith & Jones, 2022; McDonald, 2021) is used. Use “et al.” following the first author when there are more than two authors but give all authors in the references. More than one article listed in the same sentence of the text should be in chronological order first and alphabetical order for two publications in the same year. Citation from the internet is acceptable for reference having Digital Object Identifier (d.o.i).

PROOF. The authors are advised to pay attention to checking the proof sheet. Proof must be sent back to the Editorial Office within a week of receipt. If this period is exceeded, proofs will be rechecked by the Editorial Team without the author’s correction.
