Manajemen Informasi di Industri Media: Studi Kasus Pusat Data Republika

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas mengenai manajemen informasi di Pusat Data Republika. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menggambarkan proses penerapan manajemen informasi serta untuk mengidentifikasi hambatan atau kendala dalam penerapannya. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode studi kasus. Metode lainnya yang digunakan adalah audit informasi. Audit informasi digunakan sebagai alat petunjuk agar tahapan-tahapan dalam penelitian lebih terarah. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara mendalam dengan informan, analisis dokumen, dan observasi secara langsung di Pusat Data Republika. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa Pusat Data Republika menerapkan 5 tahap manajemen informasi, yaitu: identifikasi kebutuhan informasi, akuisisi, pengelolaan dan penyimpanan, layanan dan produk informasi serta penyaluran dan penggunaan informasi. Dalam proses penerapannya terdapat empat hambatan yang dihadapi, yaitu: seringnya perubahan nama rubrik pada koran, tidak adanya prosedur operasi standar, software pada web base yang tidak berfungsi secara maksimal, dan yang terakhir tempat penyimpanan informasi yang terbatas.

ABSTRACT:

This research discussed about information management at Republika Data Center. The purpose of this study is to describe the process of implementing information management and identifying the obstacles.  This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Another method that is being used in this research is information audit. It is being used as a tool so, all the stages could help the research to be more directed. The data collection is being done by interviewing informants, document analysis and observation. The study showed that Republika Data Center applied 5 stages of information management, including identification of information needs, information acquisition, information organization and storage, and information distribution. In terms of implementation, there are four obstacles which are the rubric’s name on the newspaper that changes frequently, there is no standard operating procedure, software on the web base that does not function optimally, and the limitation of information storage facilities.
