Abstract

The main problem of this research is how to examine Islamic law against the Dui Passolo tradition in the marriage of the Bugis Soppeng community in Citta Village, Citta District, Soppeng Regency. The topic of discussion is further elaborated into several sub-problems or research questions, namely: what is the public's view of the dui passolo tradition towards the marriages of the Bugis Soppeng community? Soppeng Bugis wedding?

The results of this study indicate that the people of Citta Village strongly believe in the traditions and customs of their ancestors such as the dui passolo tradition at weddings. People assume that dui passolo is an obligation that they must fulfill when attending a wedding even though dui passolo is considered burdensome. The values ​​and norms contained in the implementation of the dui passolo tradition are economic values ​​in the form of giving large amounts of money. In addition, there is also the value of solidarity as evidenced by the attitude of the people who are still able to unite the community through the implementation of the dui passolo tradition. In Islamic law, the dui passolo tradition is considered a form of gotong royong, which is in accordance with Islamic law, although it is considered burdensome. While the norms contained in the implementation of the dui passolo tradition are customary norms seen from how the people of Citta Village still adhere to the ancestral traditions that have been passed down by the community.
