Evaluasi Toksisitas Teratogenik Buah Beligo (Benincasa hispida (Thunb.) Cogn.) Terhadap Fetus Mencit Bunting
Abstrak
Penggunaan obat pada masa kehamilan dapat menimbulkan masalah pada janin. Pemakaian obat kimia sintesis dan obat herbal jangka panjang memiliki resiko efek teratogenik terhadap janin, karena janin belum memiliki sistem metabolisme yang sempurna. Beligo (Benincasa hispida (Thunb.) Cogn.) merupakan tanaman yang berpotensi dikembangkan menjadi obat herbal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek teratogenik ekstrak etanol daging buah beligo terhadap fetus mencit betina. Metode penelitian meliputi ekstraksi secara maserasi dan uji efek teratogenik menggunakan mencit sebanyak 16 ekor sebagai hewan uji dan terbagi dalam 4 kelompok perlakuan. Kelompok I diberi Na-CMC 1%, kelompok II, III, IV diberi ekstrak etanol daging buah beligo dengan dosis masing-masing 140 mg, 280 mg, dan 560 mg/kgBB secara per oral. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daging buah beligo dosis 140 mg, 280 mg dan 560 mg/kgBB pada fetus mencit lengkap 100% yang sama dengan kelompok kontrol negatif Na-CMC 1%. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah ekstrak etanol buah beligo dosis 140 mg, 280 mg dan 560 mg/kgBB tidak memberikan efek teratogenik.
