The Relevance of the Concept of Akhlak-Based Education of Umar Bin Ahmad Baraja in the Book of Akhlāq Li Banin to National Character Education.

Abstract

This research aims to describe and analyze the relevance of Umar Bin Ahmad Baraja's concept of character education based on ethics in the book Akhlāq Li Banin towards national character education. To answer this problem, the researcher used pedagogical and psychological approaches, and this research is classified as a library research that mainly sourced from the book Akhlāq Li Banin. The data collection technique used in this research is the document study technique, which collects data from written relics such as archives and books about theories, opinions, and laws. The data analysis technique used is content analysis. The results of this study indicate that Umar Bin Ahmad Baraja's concept of education contained in the book Akhlaq Li Al-Banin covers the attributes of ethics and its scope. Character education according to Umar Baradja is a series of basic concepts in forming the qualities, characters, and habits that must be possessed by children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly. Umar based his values (character) on the obligation of a servant to his Creator and his family's Prophet, father, mother, siblings, relatives, and all humans. The character recommended by Umar Baradja directs humans towards the goodness of the world and the hereafter, meaning that the goodness of the world can be trusted, honest, wise, patient, generous, and so on. The goodness of the hereafter is saved from God's anger. The attributes of ethics are divided into two, namely praiseworthy ethics and blameworthy ethics. Meanwhile, ethics based on its scope are divided into two, namely ethics towards God and ethics towards creatures, namely ethics towards fellow humans, which include ethics towards oneself, ethics towards others (family and community), and ethics towards creatures other than humans, namely ethics towards the environment.
