THE EFFECT OF COMPENSATION ON EMPLOYEE WORK MOTIVATION AT THE RECTORATE OF ALAUDDIN STATE ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY MAKASSAR
Abstract
This research aims to examine the effect of compensation on employee work motivation at the Rectorate of Alauddin State Islamic University, Makassar. This type of research is quantitative research with an ex post facto method. The population in this study were all honorary employees of the Rectorate of UIN Alauddin Makassar with a total of 35 employees. The sampling technique used is a saturated sample, that is, all members of the population are used as samples considering the population size is relatively small. The instruments used to collect data are questionnaires and documentation. Data analysis techniques use descriptive analysis, simple regression analysis, hypothesis testing and coefficient of determination testing. The results of this research prove that: 1) compensation for honorary employees of the Rectorate of UIN Alauddin Makassar is in the medium category at 71.4%; 2) work motivation of honorary employees at the UIN Alauddin Makassar Rectorate is in the medium category at 63%; and 3) compensation has a positive effect on employee work motivation by 36% and the remaining 64% is determined by other factors. The resulting regression coefficient is Ŷ = 23.98 + 0.639X. This research implies that compensation plays a very important role in increasing employee work motivation by providing bonuses/incentives to employees that suit their needs. Leaders must also provide encouragement, enthusiasm and inspiration to employees in increasing their work motivation so that employees work well and give their best abilities at work.
